about
“I just want to tell a good story.”
- Jacob Bossman
Jacob's journey into filmmaking began with a passion for music and music production, which led him to pursue a course in sound engineering and music technology. This foundation set the stage for his comprehensive education in filmmaking.
He honed his craft at Met Film School London, gaining hands-on experience in screenwriting, producing, directing, camera work, lighting, and editing. Further refining his skills, Jacob completed a Directing Actors workshop at the National Film and Television School under the guidance of renowned theatre director Marieke Audsley and a Post Supervision course in collaboration with Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Warner Media. Mentorship from BAFTA award-winning film director Jonas Grimas has been instrumental in shaping his directorial approach.
Jacob's career took off after making four short films at Met Film School and completing his Post Supervision course. He secured his first industry roles as a post-production supervisor at a BAFTA and Emmy award-winning production company led by Academy Award-winning producer James Gay-Rees. Jacob has successfully delivered projects for major platforms including Netflix, and Apple TV+.
However, his true passion lies in directing, and he is currently preparing to independently produce and direct his fifth short film, "C'est le Vie" which he also wrote.
Jacob's directorial style is nuanced, provocative, and psychologically complex. His films are characterized by meticulous craftsmanship and narrative depth, exploring themes of paranoia, alienation, and moral ambiguity. His work is intense, atmospheric, and designed to evoke strong emotional and intellectual responses. Influences such as Roman Polanski, Orson Welles, Carol Reed, and David Lean, have shaped his unique voice, while mentorship from Jonas Grimas continues to enhance his skills.
Jacob believes in visualizing the entire film and collaborating with expert department heads to bring his vision to life. His best work emerges with a skeleton crew of top-tier talent, allowing for efficient and agile production. This streamlined approach enables him to focus on capturing the best performances, perfect angles, and ideal lighting.
Jacob's dedication to storytelling and his unique artistic voice make him a standout director with a promising future in the film industry.
